Wall Heaters Review – Qualities to Look for
Wall Heater Review
Holmes HFH442-UM Heater Fan with Adjustable Thermostat and ALCI Plug was purchased by one consumer because her main gas heater would not stay lit. She reports that it warms up the room in just a few minutes, keeps it at a constant temperature for hours without getting too hot or shutting it off.
This is an excellent little heater. It has warmed rooms in excess of 400 square feet from 64 degrees to 71 degrees at low setting. The thermostat works fairly well but it would be nice if temperature settings ranged by 1 degree instead of 5 degree increments. It is quiet at low setting and quite acceptable at the high setting. This little guy is a lot more powerful than it looks.
One consumer used it to heat an entire one-car garage over the winter. It even served as an engine warmer in the garage by placing it so that it directed the warm air through the front of the car into the motor compartment.
Some wall heater reviews complained about the thermometer not working but it does not appear to be an issue reported by recent consumers.
This is a nice heater for a small bathroom. It has the ALCI plug for safety. However, the instruction manual recommends using a more expensive heater with a clock and a timer for bathrooms. The difference is not really apparent.
Users report that they like this heater so much that they are considering purchasing additional units of this model.
Broan #154 1250W Ceiling Mount Heater
This unit will serve as an exact replacement for an identical NUTONE fan that has been in service for over 15 years. There has been some difficulty reported in accessing and tightening the screws that hold the heater to the ceiling box.
When you need a quick bit of heat on a cold morning the Broan #154 ceiling mount heater is a perfect fit. This unit heats up a cold morning in a jiffy. This fan is reported to be a little noisy.
This heater has multiple wiring options to allow for 220v or 110v. One contractor reports that he has been using these heaters for years in his contracting business. They really put out the heat and are easy to install.
The Broan 174 750/1500W 120 VAC is a great unit if you are looking for a heater fan unit that replaces your old Broan heater. This heater fan is an exact match to its decades old product.
It fits the existing opening within a sixteenth of an inch. One user suggests that it will require the same periodic cleaning to keep it running and should be removed annually to be cleaned and oiled.
For the price it is a good product and should last ten to fifteen years, but if want a quiet heater, you may need to pay more and buy a unit with a less noisy fan.
Very easy to install. Looks good and works well although some consumers would like to see a wider variety of styles and colors.
This is a brief rundown on some of the good and bad found in my wall heater reviews. You can get more detailed information at the specific product review pages.
